FitTogether is a mobile app designed to connect individuals with a supportive community of fitness enthusiasts. The app’s mission is to make working out more motivating by making it social, inclusive, and approachable. The goal of the project was to create a set of reusable illustrations that bring this mission to life, helping users feel welcomed and inspired from the moment they join.
The first illustration set focused on standing or walking characters. These figures represent everyday users starting their fitness journey or looking for encouragement. Designed to be approachable and diverse, they serve as helpful visual guides on onboarding screens or educational walkthroughs, making the app feel more human and accessible.
The second set featured more dynamic characters actively engaging in a variety of fitness activities—yoga, running, weightlifting, and even hula-hooping. Each character was intentionally designed to reflect diversity in body type, age, and fitness level. This helped reinforce the message that everyone is welcome, and that fitness can look different for each person.
To support the storytelling across the app, I created mini-scenes showing both group workouts and solo exercise moments. These illustrations visually convey the core idea of community-based fitness support, helping users imagine themselves being part of a friendly, active, and encouraging environment.
The final deliverables included not just characters and scenes, but also modular design elements such as plants, benches, and background props. These components allow the product team to remix and adapt the assets for different screens, while keeping a consistent visual language across the app. Everything was designed to scale smoothly and integrate into the UI without clutter.
By combining these assets, the team was able to build custom screens faster and with more visual consistency. The illustrations strengthened the overall user experience and reinforced FitTogether’s mission: making fitness fun, inclusive, and social through a welcoming visual identity.
